I'm a writer and publisher, heavily involved over the last decade or so in the writing and publishing of the 8 books of the Angel Mountain Saga, featuring the incorrigible and very imperfect heroine Martha Morgan. I'm a native of Pembrokeshire in Wales. I read Geography at Oxford University prior to working in the Antarctic for a while and then I spent 11 years teaching geomorphology in Durham University.

I have written many titles relating to environmental matters, and I am the author of the official HMSO guide to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path which has been printed in many editions. But my real obsession is the feisty and imperfect heroine called Martha Morgan, who lived in the early nineteenth century on the flanks of Carningli -- the mountain which lies between my home and the north Pembrokeshire coast.

Volumes seven and eight are placed into gaps in the narrative related in Volume Three. The novels have a cult following and have now sold over 80, copies excluding Ebook sales — a substantial total for a small regional publisher. Corgi also published the second and third books in the series, but their sales were disappointing to the author, and the rights have now reverted to Greencroft Books, with several subsequent reprints.

The novels are all set in the rough landscape around the mountain of Carningli in North Pembrokeshire, which is now the scene of " literary tourism " as fans of the series visit "Martha Morgan Country.
